Visitors Welcome!

If we get one, we probably get a dozen (or more) calls a week asking what the entrance fee is to visit the nursery. Entrance fee? None at all! We’re open to the public 6 days a week (closed on Mondays and a few major holidays), visitors are always welcome during regular business hours, 9am to 5pm.

Rhynchostylis gigantea

One of the most spectacular of our winter-flowering orchids is in full bloom right now, you really need to come see it! And smell it, too – Rhynchostylis gigantea is not only gorgeous, it’s wonderfully fragrant! This plant blooms quite reliably in December/January every year. The flowers are long-lasting, but they don’t hang around forever, so please come for a garden tour soon!

You can see this magnificent orchid, and lots more, on one of our free weekend garden tours. Every Saturday and Sunday, weather permitting, we escort a walking tour of Bob’s and Mike’s private garden at 11am and 3pm. No reservation is necessary, just be here a few minutes before start-time. Meet your guide at the bridge. (For a nominal fee, we can arrange private garden tours for groups at other times, please contact us for details.)

Orchid Care Info

We understand that not everyone can come to Homestead for our orchid culture classes. All is not lost! Check out our orchid care information right here on the site! We have information pages on growing vandas, cattleyas, phalaenopsis, and four different groups of dendrobiums. We’ll be adding more topics in the near future, so stay tuned!

A Special Offer

Overgrown Niñas available!

Do you like big cattleyas? If so, we have a deal for you! We have a bench full of gorgeous Blc. Niña de Primavera ‘Crownfox Sunrise’ AM/AOS looking for new homes. These are big plants, waaay overgrown in baskets. We’re offering them at a special price, $274.95, plus packing and shipping at our cost. If you want one (or two…), contact our sales folks, sales @rforchids.com (yes, there’s a space between sales and rforchids, that’s to fool the silly spam bots looking for links to harass us). We’ll be happy to get an order in the works for you.
