V. NOS 50th Anniversary ‘Pretty Baby’ AM/AOS

A hearty round of applause for Carol Stauder. Her plant of V. NOS 50th Anniversary ‘Pretty Baby’ received an 83-point AM/AOS at the Gulf Coast Orchid Society show in Gautier, Mississippi this past week. Thanks to Chip Lechner for the award photo.

Remember, we love to brag on the awards folks receive on the orchids they purchase from us, so if you get something awarded, let us know about it! Send all the details, and a photo we can use (we always credit the photographer!), and we’ll brag on you, too!

Property Rentals

We get a lot of inquiries about renting the front garden area for events. You can download our FAQ about the rentals here. The PDF includes basic facility information, and how to contact our Events Manager. (You’ll need the free Adobe Acrobat Reader to view this file)

December AOS Awards

We were honored to receive two flower-quality awards at the December meeting of the West Palm Beach Judging Center. V. Pink Passion ‘Crownfox’ received a JC/AOS, this is a “Judges’ Commendation”, to recognize the beautiful unusual peloric form of the flowers. And V. Coral Delight ‘Crownfox Pumpkin’ received an AM/AOS. Beautiful! Thanks to Tom Kuligowski for the award images.

Now Showing

Golden Brugmansia

More inflorescences developing on the jade vine! We’ll announce the blooming when it begins, but meanwhile lots of other fabulous things are flowering. The Brugmansia has exploded with gorgeous golden trumpets, the Clerodendrum smithianum is still covered with beautiful white flowers, and more flowers than ever are blooming on the Indian Clock Vine (Thunbergia mysorensis). And in answer to many, many questions about a particular plant in the succulent garden, we’re pleased to report that this gem is Agave filifera ssp. microceps, a wonderful dwarf form of the species.

We hope you can join one of our free weekend garden tours, to see these amazing plants (and lots more!). This is an escorted walking tour of Bob and Mike’s private garden, and we do it every* weekend, weather permitting (read: not raining), on Saturdays and Sundays at 11am and 3pm. The tour takes about an hour, no reservation is necessary, just please be here a few minutes before start-time. Meet your guide at the bridge. (*note, because of a special event here on Saturday, March 3, we will not be offering a garden tour that day; we will resume garden tours on Sunday, March 4). We can arrange garden tours for groups, too, just contact us for details.
