Longtime customer Bar Werner of Miami was the grand prize winner in our holiday sale drawing for an orchid collection. Here’s Bar with Bob and her loot. “This is amazing,” Bar said. “The very best Christmas present ever, to be surrounded with this much beauty!” Thanks to everyone who came to the nursery for the weekend event!
2017 Holiday Hours
As both Christmas and New Year’s Day fall on Mondays, there’s no change to our operating hours this holiday season. We’re always closed on Mondays. We will be open regular hours on Tuesday, Dec. 26 and Jan. 2. We wish everyone a joyous holiday season, and the best of everything in the new year!
After the hurricane hiatus, we’re delighted to begin regular weekend garden tours again! Thanks for your patience! Everything is cleaned up and ready! And there are lots of beautiful things happening in the garden now! We have the very first flowers on our Indian Clock Vine (Thunbergia mysorensis), just a few stems right now but it will be a magnificent show soon. This vine stays in bloom for months, so everyone will have a chance to see it. The Angraecum giryamae ‘Breckinridge’ is blooming, we have flowers on the yellow brugmansia (“angel’s trumpet”), the white bird of paradise (Strelitzia nicolai), a nice crop of cherries on the coffee trees, and lots more. A whole lot of plants have buds, so we will have many things to enjoy in the coming weeks, too.
Every weekend, weather permitting, we escort a walking tour of Bob’s and Mike’s private garden at 11am and 3pm, Saturday and Sunday. No reservation is necessary, just please be here a few minutes before start-time. The tour takes about 45 minutes to an hour. There’s no charge, either. (we can arrange tours at other times for a fee, contact us for details)
