22WOC in November, 2017

WOC LOGO-02The next World Orchid Conference is scheduled for Guayaquil, Ecuador, November 8-12, 2017. Yes, it’s more than 18 months away, but we’re already working on a tour itinerary for this amazing conference and show. You can check out some information about the conference at their website, http://www.woc22.com/ and if you’re not already on our mailing list for tour information, sign up on the right of this page. Please be sure to include your mailing address, so we can send you the brochure as soon as it’s ready. We’re working on the details now, planning for an exciting adventure after the conference. Can’t divulge details just yet, but we’ll be going to Guayaquil in time for show setup and judging, staying through the Conference closing ceremonies, and then we’ll head out to explore something truly amazing and wonderful. The folks on our tour information mailing list will get the details first, so don’t be left out!

Brugmansia in the garden

Brugmansia in the garden

Our big apricot-colored Brugmansia (“Angel’s Trumpet”) is in full bloom right now, and we have flowers on several plants of very fragrant Vanda lamellata. The Lc. Gold Digger continues to open more and more golden yellow flowers, and both of the flowering vines (the jade vine and the Indian clock vine) are dropping multiple stems of buds for a really big show in another week or two. Our ghost-orchid relative, Dendrophylax funalis, is in spike, and we hope to have flowers on it soon.

The garden is full of exotic tropical plants, many rare palms, amazing aroids (philodendron relatives), bromeliads, gingers, heliconias, flowering trees and lots more in addition to orchids in the trees. We hope you can join one of our free weekend walking tours of it. Weather permitting, we escort the garden tours at 11am and 3pm on Saturdays and Sundays. No reservation is necessary, just be here a few minutes before the start-time.

We can arrange private garden tours for groups, too. Contact us for details.
