22WOC and Peru

Dear Orchid Friends,

woc-logo-04We’re going to the 22nd World Orchid Conference in November, 2017, and I hope you’ll join us on this amazing adventure to Ecuador and Peru! After the Conference, we’ll visit some of the most amazing UNESCO World Heritage Sites in South America.

We’ll fly from Miami to Guayaquil, Ecuador and check into one of the city’s finest hotels, the Hotel Oro Verde. We’ll spend 6 nights there, so you’ll have plenty of time for the show and conference; judges take note, we plan to be there for judging this magnificent show, and for the Conference’s opening ceremony!

Our adventure really begins when we depart Guayaquil. We’ll fly to Lima, Peru, and explore the colonial heart of the Spanish empire in South America. A highlight includes a visit to the famous “Gold Museum”, and we’ll also journey to Paracas, on the coast, to see the amazing wildlife sanctuary of Islas Ballestas. While we’re there, we’ll fly over the incredible Nazca Lines.

Then we’re headed to Cusco, for two days in the capital of the Inca Empire, high in the Andes. We’ll visit many sites nearby, including the incredible fortress of Sacsayhuamán. After Cusco, we’re off by train to Aguas Callientes, gateway to the fabled “lost city” of Machu Picchu. We’ll stay in one of the most beautiful hotels anywhere, the Inkaterra Pueblo, where the grounds are a botanical garden and wildlife refuge, and tour the breathtaking ruins of the ancient city.
